What is a Civic Brand and why are we building one?

When we think of Brand, the first thing that comes to mind is the logo, but it is really so much more. A brand is what people think of when they hear your name, as well as the perceptions, personality, and reputation that go along with it. In short, a civic brand articulates who you are and what you stand for.

Businesses use their brands to target the ideal customer. Similarly, civic brands can help communities target residents and investors who align with the culture and shared vision for the future. Furthermore, civic brands strengthen pride within the community, enhance communication, and support the evolution of a place with intention and purpose.

The Process

A civic brand is not created out of thin air. It’s not constructed from the ground-up. This process is designed to uncover Bratenahl’s brand and articulate who we are and what we stand for. And who better to shed light on our community’s strengths and character than the people who know it best: our residents.

Throughout this process, we will be engaging members of the community in focus groups and conducting research and surveys to collect additional perspective from a broader audience. The project is led by a Steering Committee comprised of Bratenahl residents and staff, and supported by our partners at Guide Studio.
